ENTRY to the festival precinct is FREE with many activities and performances that won’t cost you a cent! Be sure and get to the festival early so you can fit it all in!
Early birds can kick off with Ukulele Boot Camp to stamp out those bad practice habits from 8:30 am at the Beginners Ukulele Oasis.
Never played ukulele before? Mike Jackson’s All Ages Beginners Session will set your fingers on the right strings for festival success. Learn C, F & G7 and start playing hundreds of songs! Mike with his son Thom take to the SPRUKE Stage for Uke’n Play Ukulele at 9:00 am.
The Music Bazaar Stage starts popping at 10:20 with acts for the kids and the young at heart. Jimmy Hoopers’ Balloony Tunes and the Makin’ Music with Mama Juju and the Jam Tarts will keep the fun going. While you are at the Music Bazaar grab a sausage sizzle or get your face painted. Then head back to the Beginners Ukulele Oasis to learn a new song every half hour.
SPRUKE 215 has free live music on three performing stages all weekend. The all-day rolling concert on the SPRUKE Stage, the buzz of the Music Bazaar Stage or chill out and eat while checking out the talent at the Koyama Sound Bite.
No uke – no worries! Borrow a uke, and try before you buy.
Julie and Keryn will have some spare ukes at the Beginners Ukulele Oasis for Ukulele Bootcamp (8:30 am and 4:30 pm on Sat and 8:30 am on Sun), and Novice Songs (11:00 am to 2:00 pm Sat, and 10:30 to 12:30 on Sun).
Mike Jackson will have ukes to lend to people for the duration of his session at the Uke’n Make Music All Ages Beginners Session at 9:00 am on Saturday morning. Mama Juju will also have some ukes and percussion instruments to lend to audience members at the 11:00 am Making Music Jam with the Jam Tarts session.

Ukulele Boot Camp continues from 8:30 am. Join the KaraUkey Jam with Henk Brent warm up your vocals and sing along as you follow the chords on a screen. Strut your stuff at the Acoustic Open Mic or sessions at the Music Bazaar Stage.
The free live music continues on three performing stages. Browse the Music Bazaar markets with the biggest range of ukuleles and accessories Brisbane has ever seen, be tempted by a souvenir, grab a quick snack or fill that need for just one more ukulele!
For those doing the festival on a budget bring your lunch, there are lots of places to picnic, or take it easy and catch up with friends as you enjoy the beautiful Brissy spring weather.
There are limited seats available in the FREE workshops on Sunday. From Kaneohe, Hawaii Master Luthier and owner, Joe Souza talks about Kanile’a ‘Ukulele Building Traditions & Technology . Find out how the Souza family fulfil their mission to ‘Spread Aloha Through Music”. Finally a workshop must for any band Recording Your Ukulele Group with two-time ARIA Award winning producers, Karl Neuenfeldt and Nigel Pegrum.
For those who don’t mind spending a few dollars SPRUKE 2015 also has ticketed concerts on Friday and Saturday night featuring international artists Aldrine Guerrero (Hawaii) and The Nukes (NZ), also 24 ticketed workshops from our headliners and other talented musicians on everything from playing techniques, song writing and arranging, to perfrcting your performance. You don’t even have to play a uke to learn new skills at many of these workshops. Check out all the ticketed events.
The festival wraps up at the Morris Brothers Festival Finale featuring our international and local uke stars. Miss Elm and the Australian Ukulele Show start the festivities, then 612 ABC Radio Drive producer Lachie Mackintosh, who accepted a challenge to learn the ukulele in eight weeks, takes to the stage for his first public performance. You might even go home a winner when we’ll draw the last of our raffle prizes and two lucky seat prizes! Finish your weekend on a high when Aldrine Guerrero, Aaron Nakamura, The Nukes, and as many of our uke-stars who can fit will take to the stage for one fabulous final jam…not to be missed!
