SPRUKE 2017 Day Program with Map

SPRUKE 2017 is a three-day festival held over the weekend of Friday 29 September— Sunday 1 October at TAFE Queensland Brisbane’s South Bank campus. The festival features live music, workshops, open mic, jams, a market and two concerts. Bring the family, bring your uke, and have a different family day out!

ENTRY to the festival precinct is FREE with lots of activities and performances that won’t cost you a cent! For those who don’t mind spending a few dollars SPRUKE 2017 has ticketed concerts on Friday night and Sunday afternoon, and 23 workshops.

The festival opens on Friday evening with the SPRUKETACULAR Concert with Kyas Ryo (Japan), Ukulele Russ (Alaska, USA) and Manitoba Hal (Canada). Joining these international acts are homegrown ukulele stars Tyrone and Lesley, and The Pockets. See all of our performers here.

Over the weekend take your pick from checking out the performances, attending a workshop, relaxing in the sunshine catching the open mic…or get up and strut your stuff! Every Ukulelist of any ability will find lots to do and lots to inspire. The Beginners Oasis returns with ‘Ukulele Bootcamp’, and ‘Novice Songs’ sessions for learning a song each half hour. There’s the Music Bazaar markets with everything the ukulele enthusiast, food, and coffee. You might even have a go at one of the busking spots around the festival.

The Morris Brothers Festival Finale is the crescendo with all our international acts joining our BUMS bands and Ukestration for a fabulous fun end to SPRUKE 2017. Remember to bring your uke!

See all the details for the workshops and concerts on the Events page, with direct links to TryBooking to buy tickets or book seats for the free events. Keep in touch and sign up to our SPRUKE newsletter.
