The launch of “I Play Ukulele” – ANZCA’s Ukulele Syllabus – will be part of a program of workshops at the Spruke Festival on Saturday morning September 21 , recommended for teachers, leaders of group, orchestras, school music educators and parents of children learning the Ukulele. “I Play Ukulele” has been written to teach children and adults the fundamentals of reading music, whilst developing a good solid technique for playing the ukulele.
This series has been designed so that good techniques are learnt for strumming, playing melody and developing finger picking- right from the very beginning. This book will be invaluable in the classroom for teachers wanting to use sound techniques. An overview of the ANZCA Ukulele syllabus will be presented at SPRUKE. This syllabus allows those students who are keen to sit for examinations and receive a recognised certificate. There will also be information on the upcoming Performance Group Book and assessments which are being devised around current ACARA requirements.
“I Play Ukulele” includes a backing CD where all pieces are demonstrate with and without the part designated for the student to play. Co -author John Murray has also put everything on the ANZCA you-tube channel so that a good look at the techniques can be seen.
