Ukulele players, the uke-curious and their families will want to pencil in a visit to SPRUKE Brisbane’s Ukulele Festival this weekend 20-22 September at Southbank Institute of Technology. Brisbane Ukulele Musicians Society B.U.M.S. will host the three day event with a program consisting of performances, workshops, uke jams, open mics and two evening concerts.

Headline acts include Canadian bluesman Manitoba Hal Brolund, with homegrown talent Leah Flanagan, Mic Conway (Captain Matchbox), Ukeologist Thom Jackson from Melbourne, and Brisbane band The Pockets. An array of Ukulele performers aged from 7 to 74 will support at three performance spaces all weekend including local favorites Yellowbird Band, Mama Juju, Jane Cameron and The Bumsteaders.

With FREE entry to the festival, free day performances and some free workshops Spruke is a great family day out. Bring the whole family to sing, play and relax with your Ukuleles. Don’t have a Uke? Buy one in our Spruke Market and join a beginner’s workshop.  The evening concerts and some workshops are ticketed. Food and drink is available on site.
