SPRUKE 2022 opens with a cabaret ‘A Night in Paris’ at Coorparoo Bowls Club on Friday 3 June. Enjoy drinks and canapés while entertained by talented ukulele artists, with a few surprises thrown in! To share the uke love around, an inspiring program of workshops, jams, and performances will be hosted at venues around Brisbane through the week.

Our major event ‘SPRUKE on the Square’ is on Saturday 11 June. A FREE event with performances over two stages, themed jams and beginner classes on the deck, and open mics. Experienced and new players alike will be tempted by the Music Market, with the latest gear and instruments to possess. This big day of ukulele fun culminates with ‘Ukulele Under The Stars’ a huge jam and concert to strum, sing and dance the night away.

The festival closes with the SPRUKE Wrap Jam & BBQ at Coorparoo Bowlo on the afternoon Sunday 12 June. A relaxed free event with food and drinks available for a small cost.

Headline acts and workshops are being finalised now and tickets will be available soon through Trybooking. All performers and workshop facilitators are by invitation this year. To keep up to date with program announcements, please check out our Facebook page Spruke Brisbane’s Ukulele Festival.

“After the disappointment of having to cancel last year, we were determined to deliver a festival which shows Brisbane and BUMS is open and ready to have fun again.” said BUMS President, Sylvia Hunt “We wanted a festival to give anyone who was interested in ukulele, at any playing level or age, an opportunity to come along and enjoy “.

“It’s the biggest and most ambitious festival that BUMS has ever held, “adds Max Borchardt, BUMS Vice President “and thanks to a grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, we will showcase the essence of our activities in BUMS at Brisbane’s most iconic venue ꟷ King George Square.”

This will be a COVID-safe event and comply with the Queensland Health and Brisbane City Council’s current guidelines.

Add the date to your calendar and start practising for those open mics! Get ready for a great weekend of fun as you Share, Perform and Relax with all things UKE!
