Mark Morris from Morris Brothers Musical Store talks about their family business and why they love the Ukulele. How it’s a more accessible instrument to start playing music as well as offering versatility to serious musicians.
Morris Brothers Musical Store has origins dating back almost 50 years to 1967, with the establishment by John Morris of the Australian Academy of Music in Spring Hill. As a family, we were taught the value of music, and discovered how it can enrich lives.
In 2001, Mark Morris (eldest son) established the business in Stafford to continue the legacy of a personal, family approach, dedicated to enriching the lives of other Brisbane families through music.
In contrast to other music stores, the Morris Brothers approach has been unique, totally focused on making music fun, easy and affordable. Specialty areas we offer include:
- Brisbane’s best selection of tuner and teacher selected used pianos.
- Queensland’s lowest cost instrument rental plan (up to 1/3 the cost of most others).
- Deal with teachers, repairers and musicians who care.
As there are so many academic and social benefits from playing a musical instrument, we know that 12-15% of the population are fortunate to gain these benefits. The ukulele excited us, because it is the one instrument that opens the door to the 85% who were previously excluded.
Why the ukulele? It’s easy to learn, you can sing, play and smile, and it brings people together. Our staff love playing the ukulele, and are passionate about introducing people to the uke! We offer Brisbane’s best range, including Lanikai, Koyama, Kala, Makai, Tanglewood, Anuenue, Maton, Aria, Mahalo and more. With an amazing 20% off every* ukulele over $100 (*15% off Maton), plus heaps of music and accessories, Morris Brothers is your gateway to the exciting world of the ukulele.
We also proudly work with and support great local organisations, including BUMS and other great local and regional groups. We even run popular in-house free jam nights for beginners, so you can experience the fun (free ‘loaner’ ukes for your friends to join in!)
We proudly support “Spruke”, and are here to ensure you can share in the exciting and fun world of the ukulele.
All here at SPRUKE thank Morris Brothers Music for all their support and encouragement. Be sure to check out all the fabulous ukuleles , accessories and deals Mark, Paul and the team are bringing to the Spruke Markets. If you can’t wait check out their website http://ukulelebrisbane.com.au/.
