BUMS BUSK FOR RADIO LOLLIPOP

No Comments SPRUKE Festival News

Brisbane’s largest band of ukulele buskers captivated the South Bank crowds at the world record busk attempt this Valentine’s Day. The BUMS ukulele buskers were the largest contingent amongst the 387 performers who beat the previous Guinness Largest Busk World Record of 230 buskers.
The Brisbane Ukulele Music Society Inc. had 78 members performing in the public celebration of art, love, culture and people. Proceeds of their busk were donated to Radio Lollipop, who do an amazing job providing care, comfort, play and entertainment to children at the Mater Children’s Hospital.
The Valentine’s Busk was also the launch of the ukulele society’s promotional campaign for SPRUKE 2015 — Brisbane’s Ukulele Festival, celebrating springtime and the ukulele.
“This is an exciting time for aspiring ukulele players, as the theme for SPRUKE 2015 is Uke’n Make Music,” said David Hethorn, Festival Director. “We’ll be encouraging new ukulele players of all ages to try their hand at making music.” The festival is being held at the South Bank TAFE campus at the beginning of October this year.
