Brisbane Ukulele Music Society Inc. (BUMS) is thrilled to be invited back to perform at City Sounds on Friday 30 September. City Sounds is Australia’s largest free live music program, presenting local and touring bands and artists in the Queen Street Mall, Post Office Square, South Bank and other locations around Brisbane each week. In 2015 headline acts for SPRUKE drew large crowds as they showcased the ukulele with an eclectic range of acts. Brisbane Ukulele Music Society Inc. (BUMS) has appointed Max Borchardt as Festival Director for the 2017 ukulele festival, SPRUKE. Max, a writer, artist and enthusiastic ukulele player, brings fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the festival team as they tune up for the Brisbane’s biannual ukulele festival, a three-day event to be held in Spring. Max is familiar to many Brisbane ukulele enthusiasts as a popular leader at BUMS jams and the facilitator of the Tutu’s (Toowong Third Tuesday Ukulele Strummers) group. Well that’s Spruke over again for another 2 years – but what a successful festival it was. The Spruke committee would like to thank all those who came from interstate and other places in the state to perform and participate in the festival with us. We go into hibernation again until early 2017, when we’ll be gearing up for another fabulous festival.
